This is also one of the best off road vehicles available in India. Since its launch in 2010, the best 4X4 SUV remained unchanged but as they say, with the changing times, one has to change. Mahindra has planned to relaunch it with some mechanical changes. Although nothing has been officially claimed yet, it is expected to be seen on road, with a facelift, in March 2020.
Force Gurkha
Force Gurkha – Force Gurkha is also one of the best off road SUVs in the Indian market. It combines amazong off-roading and on-roading capabilities. It comes with 2149 CC and 2596 CC variants. The off roader SUV is available in both soft-top and hardtop variants. Force made some changes in its looks in the recent years and the SUV now looks like the replica of Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon. Even the SUVs power comes from the Mercedes OM 616 sourced 2.6 L diesel engine. It is the maker’s shining star because of its tremendous off road capabilities.
Isuzu D Max V Cross
Isuzu d max v cross –Launched in 2016, Isuzu D-MAX V-Cross has 2499 CC Diesel Engine. It has an excellent stability and control, both on road and off road. Tata Xenon
Tata Xenon – The Tata Xenon XT is a pick-up with a 2.2 L aluminium engine. It can produce up to 320Nm torque and up to 4500 rpm. Though the vehicle doesn’t sport any safety feature like ABS or airbags but is one of the smooth 4X4 vehicle to ride. The pickup has vacuum-assisted hydraulic brakes which help in good control over the off-roader.

Though these options available are not cheap when we look for off road vehicles but they all are very good in their segments. But when we consider the value for money, the off-road capabilities and power to weight ratio, Maruti Gypsy King takes the lead even after lacking some of the necessary features available in other off roaders. As Gypsy’s production has been stopped by MSIL, you can easily get less driven, well maintained, used Gypsy King in the market at a good price or you can also opt for the vehicles auctioned by Army and other forces.
