The National Labor Day in the United States is the festival which is meant to celebrate the Labor movement of the late 19th century. On Veteran’s Day, we believe in those who served and, On Memorial Day, we identify those who fell in the fight. Heck, Columbus Day at least energizes debate about whether or not the fellow was a jerk. But come to Labor Day we apparently spend most of our time wondering whether it’s really that taboo to use white later in the week. What’s that all of? Shouldn’t we converge more on what Labor Day’s actually all about? While we’re on that topic: What’s Labor Day really all around?
Time Magazine chronicles a period in the U.S when organizations were on the rise: “When the first governmentally known Labor Day was celebrated in 1894, the day consisted of a street march sending up information of ‘the strength and esprit de team of the trade and labor organizations,’ in the terms of the official magazine of the American Federation of Labor, supported by a festival for workers and their families.”
