Before you book your online tickets, confirm the following:
Identity Card (Driving License, PAN card, Aadhar Card, Passport or Voter ID card) Bank Account details like Debit card number, Online Bank Password, also keep your phone handy so that you can quickly access your OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
Also note down your Travel destination, Train name, Train Number, number of people who will travel and the details like age, gender, etc.
First of all, make sure you have Internet Banking facility and you remember the password and ID for the same. Then you need to login to your IRCTC account, if not a user, create an account. And you are ready to go.

Step 1: Log into the IRCTC website and fill in your user ID and password.

Step 2: Click on ‘My Profile’ from the top of the menu bar and select ‘Master List’.

Step 3: Fill all the details related to the travellers like name, age, food preferences, ID details, etc. and Save it.

Step 4: Again click on ‘My Profile’ and select ‘Favourite Journey List’ and fill the required details.

Step 5: Fill all the details about the train and the stations you will board and de-board the train and click ‘Save Journey List’.

Step 6: Tatkal booking begins at 10 o’clock, so log in accordingly by again logging into your IRCTC account.

Step 7: Click on ‘My Profile’ and select ‘Favourite Journey List’ which you have already filled in.

Step 8: Go to ‘Plan my journey’ and submit all the details.

Step 9: Select the train, then select Tatkal and click on ‘Book Now’.

Step 10: Click on ‘Master list’ and cross check the list of travellers, and check if their details are correct or not.

Step 11: Fill the ‘CAPTCHA’ and click ‘Next’.

Step 12: Select your bank name to make payments.

Step 13: Fill all the Bank details to make the online payment.

Step 14: Click ‘Pay’ and you are good to go.
