Theme of Indian Navy celebration commemoration on the 50th anniversary of the 1971 victory will be ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’.
We have always felt proud on our naval forces as they are known for their courage and valour which could be seen in the Indian Naval history. But Operation Trident is one such incident which is considered one of the main reason for the celebration of Navy Day, observes on 4th December since 1971.
As the history goes, during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, our Naval Missile boats attacked on the Karachi harbour showing victory against the enemies under the name of Operation Trident on 4th December. The achievements and significance of naval force is celebrated as Indian Navy Day on the same day to commemorate the occasion and the martyrs of the war.
Highlights of Navy Week
Navy week is organised every year to celebrate the achievements of the Indian navy and multiple activities are held like open sea swimming competition, tour of Indian ships organised for general public are few of them. Veteran Sailors lunch, Naval Symphonic Orchestra, Indian Navy Inter School Quiz Competition and Navy Half Marathon are other programs held at the Indian Navy.
Indian navy is one such integral part of the defence which has always kept our country’s pride high among the other nations. We are more than proud to see ourselves associated with our great naval system includes more than 67000 chivalrous personnel and about 150 ships and submarines equipped with latest technology.
Fun Fact- Maratha Emperor, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered as ‘Father of the Indian Navy’.
