NEET 2020 Registrations Begin: Following the release of NEET 2020 Notification by National Testing Agency, the apex testing agency started the NEET 2020 registration process today. According to details, NEET 2020 application process starts today i.e. 2nd December 2019 at 4 PM. The NTA which is organizing the NEET 2020 exam starts the online registration process on the official exam portal i.e. ntaneet.nic.in. Candidates, who are interested in appearing for NTA NEET 2020 exam i.e.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2020, are advised to complete the registration process at the earliest. Other important details including eligibility criteria, application process, and important dates about NEET 2020 are provided below:

One MBBS / Medical Entrance Test across India

From this year onwards, NEET 2020 has become the single entrance test to get admission to undergraduate medical programmes i.e. MBBS and BDS in India. Earlier different medical institutes like AIIMS and PIGMER would hold different entrance tests, but from 2020-21 academic session, HRD ministry has prescribed only a single medical entrance test for all the institutes.

From 2020 onwards, NEET 2020 will be used to allot all medical/ dental seats in the country, including in AIIMS, JIPMER, other private medical colleges, state run medical colleges, AFMC, ESIC, etc. In addition to this, even medical aspirants who are planning to pursue medical education abroad also need to clear the NEET 2020 exam and qualify the same to seek admission to foreign medical universities.

NEET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

As per the official notification, candidates need to qualify the following eligibility criteria in order to appear for NEET 2020 exam.

  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals are allowed to appear for the exam
  • Academic Eligibility: Applicant must have completed 10+2 or must be appearing for 10+2 exam this year
  • Subject Combination: Applicants must have subject combination of Chemistry, Physics, Biology/ Bio-technology at 10+2 level. They must also have Mathematics and an elective subject along with English at 10+2 level.

NEET 2020 Age Limit

As per the notification published on ntaneet.nic.in website, the apex testing agency has also prescribed the upper and lower age limit for the applicants appearing for NEET 2020 entrance exam. As per the notification, NEET 2020 lower age limit has been set at 17 years as on 31st December 2019 while the upper age limit has been fixed at 25 years as on 31st December 2019. There is relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC NCL, PWD category candidates. Therefore, only those candidates who fall within this bracket are allowed to apply and appear for NEET 2020 exam.

NEET 2020 Application Fee Hiked

National Testing Agency (NTA) has also hiked the application fee for medical entrance exam NEET 2020. As per the prospectus or the notification, there has been an increase of 5 to 7%  in the NEET 2020 application fee. For 2020 session of NEET exam, the application fee for General Category(GEN) candidates has been fixed at Rs 1500/-.

For General EWS(Economical Weaker Section) and OBW Non-Creamy Layer Candidates, the application fee is Rs 1400/-. NEET 2020 application fee for SC, ST, PWD and transgender candidates stands at Rs 800/-.
