New Delhi | India is going to celebrate its 73st Republic Day on Sunday (January 26, 2022). The official authorities have been doing the last minute preparation to ensure safe and hinderance free Republic Day parade at the Rajpath in New Delhi. The participants have also been geared up for the day to showcase their tableaux.

Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, the security of Delhi Metro stations has also been beefed up to avoid any mishap. The Delhi Police has issued instructions for the Delhi Metro regarding the restriction during the celebrations. Services of Delhi Metro will be restricted partially on Sunday under the instructions of the city police as part of the security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations.

On Sunday, trains on the ‘line 2’ from HUDA City Centre to Samaypur Badli and ‘line 6’ from Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh, will start from 6 am instead of 8 am. In addition, services on Phase-III corridors of the Delhi Metro will also begin two hours earlier than the normal schedule.

Republic Day 2022 Metro Timings

The phase 3 corridors include — L-1 Dilshad Garden to Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda); L-2 from Jahangirpuri to Samaypur Badli; L-3 and 4 from Noida City Centre to Noida Electronic City; L-5 from Mundka to Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh; L-6 from Badarpur Border to Raja Nahar Singh (Ballabhgarh); L-7 from Majlis Park to Mayur Vihar Pocket-1; L-7 from EX Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake to Shiv Vihar; L-8 from Janak Puri West to Botanical Garden and L-9 from Dwarka to Najafgarh.

Apart from the phase 3 corridor metro stations, the entry and exit of Central Secretariat(CS) and Udyog Bhawan metro stations will remain closed from the commencement of the services till 12 pm on Sunday.

Along with these two, the metro stations of Lok Kalyan Marg(LKM) and Patel Chowk will also remain closed from 8:45 am to 12 pm on Sunday. Commuters can use the Central Secretariat station to interchange between Yellow and Violet line, DMRC said.

Meanwhile, the metro stations on Violet Line, namely ITO, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate, Lal Quila, will remain open throughout the day. However, certain entry and exit gates at these stations will remain closed from the start of services till 12:00 pm.

The Delhi Metro Railway Corporation has also announced that all the parking lots will remain closed from 6 am on January 25 to 2 pm on January 26 as part of the security arrangements. Security has been stepped up across all Delhi Metro stations a week before Republic Day for the safety of passengers.
