Taj Mahal, one of the 7 wonders of the world, is an ivory-white marble tomb situated on the south bank of the Yamuna river in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. It was ordered to be constructed in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan (who governed from 1628 to 1658), to house the tomb of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The monument also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan, who was the builder.
