It implies the initiation of Assamese New Year and the coming spring season. The 7 days festival is a treat to go through folk music, Bihu dance, and yummy delicacies.


Tamil Puthandu – Tamil New Year

This festival marks the commencement of the Tamil New Year. The day starts with kanni where at the dawn, all the families place a large mirror and a tray filled with tropical fruits, coconut, gold ornaments, fruits, cash, beetle leaves, and other auspicious things is put in front of it. People have to see the picture of this tray through the mirror.

The most famous delicacy of this festival is maanga pachadi, a sweet-bitter-sour chutney made with raw mango, jaggery, and neem flower.


Baisakhi Mela, Punjab

Baisakhi is a harvest festival celebrated in Punjab. It is one of the most heartfelt and fiercely celebrated festivals in India.

The festival involves a rhythmic synchronization between melodious legendary music and heavy drumming. People use various masks engraving Kalan (God of death), Yakshi (fairy), Pakshi (birds) and Bhairavi (Kali) to make the festival more elegant and beautiful.


Mahavir Jayanti

It is the most major festival of the Jain society. It is celebrated as the birth of Mahavira (the last Tirthankara). It starts with the abhisheka (a ceremonial bath) of the statues of Mahavira. People who follow Jainism offer prayers, meditate and even do charity in the name of Mahavir.
